Earworm: I'm Not That Girl - Wicked

i went to see the Oz the Great and Powerful recently with my mother and my dear friend Jordan (Yordan...).  Mind you my mother hasn't been to a movie in the theaters in over a year and half.  I bought her popcorn and soda to celebrate.  We made many jokes about how she "doesnt get out much".  Anyway I really liked the movie!  I dont mind James Franco, he needed to be a smirky con man to make it work.  I hear he is on the verge of being very Jim Carreyish and I hope he can be saved.  Michelle Williams was great in a so-sweet-you-get-a-toothache way, but I am mildly biased.  I have always thought she was cute as a button.  Most of the beginning would be pretty lame without the 3D glasses.  I could have lived without the flying monkeys zipping out at you.  At one point my mother even said "yikes!" pretty loud.  The kid next to us laughed so hard he almost fell out of his seat.  So what does all the this have to do with Wicked?  Well I will tell you!  I couldnt stop thinking of songs from the musical!  I like the crazy, twisted version of the wicked witch better from the book but the songs from the musical are some of my favorite!  It is in my top 5 musical, after Gypsy and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.  Yeah I like singing strippers and hookers, so what?  Get over it.

I think I relate a little too much with Elphie when it comes go guys.  I will always see myself as the funny fat friend of the pretty girls.

Mind blowing moment:  My fave raw foodie goes paleo?  At least eating meat!!!  boom...
POF date:  one.  eh.
Missed Hobbit opportunities:  Three.  I may not get to see it in the theaters...
Miles:  19/90  (20 if I get off my lazy ass...)
Birds:  12/100

If you want a real review of the movie see what Warren and Melissa have to say.

Needles Are Fun!

three weeks ago I started getting acupuncture.  I have always wanted to try it and when I saw a Groupon for the Metis (in the video they show the fire room where I hang out most, it has the two chairs and red curtains) clinic I figured, why not.  Its was slightly terrifying   Not because of the needles, but more the not moving for an hour.  I have some trouble with sleep, well that seems like an understatement ..  Sleep hates me and I have trouble relaxing.  This is also a reason why I am so pale.  I have no patience to lay in the sun in a position long enough to get a tan...  I have a problem with stillness.  My mind is never still so I need to keep moving or distracted so I dont have to think, or over think ..  When I was there for my first appointment I expressed my concerns for the stillness and she said she could check on in 20 mins and I could be done then.  This was very helpful, the fear of an hour of forced relaxation was gone.  It is still mildly awkward to lay in a dark room with your sleeves and pant legs rolled up, stuck with needles, 19 to be exact.  I think it must have taken me at least 10 minutes just to come to terms with being still.  If you move you get stabbed.  Bad plan.   After that I let it all go.  I stopped thinking about work and boys and what I should eat for dinner.  I let my mind wonder, any thought that had to do with nothing important was allowed.  It was like waking dreams.  I was swimming in the ocean with stingrays and whale sharks.  It was amazing.  I didnt need to continue over analyzing life.  Very freeing.  Afterwards there was after glow.  Not like a massage where you are groggy but a calm feeling.  The second time I had 20 needles and it was about the same as the first go around. The third time was the most outrageous!  I had 30 needles, mostly in my spine like a stegosaurus.  I felt kinda bad cause I kept laughing.  My back is SUPER ticklish.   After all the needles were placed she brushed then 4 times to move the thoughts out of my head and down to my feet.  It felt like teeny tiny back tickles, it may have been my favorite part!  This treatment was for insomnia and it must have worked cause I fell asleep on the table.  How does that happen?  Ever since I have been sleeping much better!  All I want to do is nap and with these naps I sleep!  Not just lay there wishing for sleep!  I told Melissa I wasnt sure this was better than not sleeping, but she said I was just paying off my sleep debt for all the years of not sleeping!  Love that girl!

Have you every wanted to try acupuncture?

Goals: 100 Birds

my mother has always been a big fan of birds.  You could be having a conversation with her and she would see a bird and you would lose her till she identified it.  We call it "bird ADD", kind of a family joke.  I was trained at a young age to call out if I ever see a Red-Tailed Hawk.  We even made it into a game for long car trips, counting birds.  I still play with friends on road trips.  I have always wanted to know more about birds, I can only identify ones I have seen in our backyard.  This gave me the idea of making a list of 100 birds spotted before summer is over.  I bought a app for my phone to help from the Audubon Society.  Its pretty nifty!  So far I have 4 birds.

1/100  Red-tail HawkButeo jamaicensis very fitting first sighting.
2/100  Canada Goose, Branta canadensis
3/100  European Starling, Sturnus vulgaris
4/100  American Crow, Corvus brachyrhynchos

My plan is to go on birding adventures, any excuse to sit outside!

Hot Beverage:  One coffee and I forgot to say only one shot!  Didnt perk me up at all...  Strange cause that should have had me bouncing off the walls!
Adventure:  Went to a real pet store to get Charlotte's cat food.  It was really fun to see the fish, lizards and hermit crabs!  I miss my hermies...  Ps. Animals should never go on sale.  Not classy...
Nail Polish:  Russian Navy by OPI with an extra coat of a silver sparkles by OPI that is missing a label, on my ring fingers.

Birds:  4/100

WTF: Season Four of Felicity

this was not the intend post for today, please stay tuned for a special My Future Ex Boyfriend tomorrow...  But here is the crazy! I heart Netflix, known fact. I dont watch much tv, but I always have something playing on Netflix.  I watch shows super fast cause I let them play whenever I am in my room, one right after the other.  Currently I have been enjoying Felicity.  I remember watching some of it when it was on the air (but not past her chopping her hair off, sorry Keri...)  Not sure if you watched any of it but there is a huge twist in the last season!  HUGE!!!  I will explain.  Episode 17 of season four is called The Graduate.  It seems like the end of the series.  Everyone graduates and goes their separate ways...  I got teary.  Noel and Felicity saying goodbye?  Ouch!  Megan showing that she cares without yelling?  What?!  Ben figuring out at the end he is a moron and that he really loves her?  Perfect!  Then episode 18 starts....  Um what?  Didnt we end this.  Wrapped everything up in a nice shiny bow?  Nope guess not.  The episode starts out with a letter to Sally (Ps it made me miss Janine Gruffalo, should have kept her...), curly hair and a dorm room.  WTF.  Didnt we already do this?  Long story short Ben cheats on Felicity and she now wishes she had been with Noel since she slept with him.  So, duh, Megan casts a spell and Felicity time travels!  I kept hearing Seth Green from Robot Chicken say, "what a twist!"  I am so confused!  Am I watching Lost?  Are there going to be polar bears and ticker tape monsters?!  What gives J.J. Abrams?! Why must you mess up things I love?  Or maybe they were all dead to begin with?...  There are 5 episodes left and I not sure if I want to watch them...  I kinda like how it all ended...

Thank you for reading my crazy "rant"!

Best:  Dinner with my family, even Bruder was there!
Worst:  Work...  I feel like a whiny baby complaining about it, but its got me bummed these days!  Today I even considered running away.  All I would need is a zippy for Bob...
Productivity:  I feel very enthusiastic but lazy.  The mind is willing but the body drained, not weak.
Miles:  Still 7, tomorrow

What is something crazy thing has happened to you today?

Earworm: Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs - Burn Your Fun

i love this song!  I love songs that feel old, but arent.  I guess in my heart I love country, but only rock-a-billy/bluesy/bluegrass/folk.  (I will always love the Wailin' Jennys!)  I am not into saving a horse by riding a cowboy...  Also how do you not fall in love with this album cover?  Those creepy scarecrows really belong together!  True love...

How was payroll Monday:  Started but it was to late in the day to really do much.  One day it will work as it should...
Iced Tea:  Two skull tumblers full, peppermint...
Time spent in the sun:  Just my run, I didnt even look outside much today.  I was busy!  Except when I was on hold, then I taught my monster pen cap to eat its hands...  Not weird...
Miles to date:  7

Ps, did you notice my super duper cool new header?  My amazingly talented friend Rosie made it!  She are awesome!  :)
