What I Learned: Girls Dont Poop

hiya pals!  Happy Friday the 13th!  ooooOOOOoooo ahhhHHHHhhh.  I love Friday the 13th...  Another week flew by.  It seems most of what i learned this week was from YouTube...  I am playing around with the idea of making cooking/crafting videos. I would like the videos to be done from above looking down.  I am trying to figure out how to make this work with my tripod.  I am having very little luck.  I did find this!  How cool!  I totally want one!

I love songs named with my name in them!  I am sure we all do.  Sarah Smile is my fave, even if they spell it wrong...  What Sarah Said is my least favorite...  I dont want to watch anyone die!  Sarah the Whale is a new addition to my Sarah playlist.  I am not sure how I feel about it...  It is from a silly song book.  I heard Sharon Lois and Bram sing a version of on the TV but couldnt find it on the YouTube...  But I found this.  I would fast forward to 1:44 unless you want to hear him talk about his mango juice...

Here it is!  The most amazing thing I learned this week!  Girls dont poop!  Must watch!

I also learned I have little patience for people.  This isnt a new fact but I am always surprised but peoples self importance.  Yesterday I got blocked in my own driveway, had the car in front of me, that was clearly lost, stop right in the middle of the street to read street signs (just pull over!  I know where I am going!) and I had a woman at the store cut in front of me by running to get to the line.  I was right there and she nearly hit me!  The best part were her 13 coupons for her 13 items in the 12 items or less line.  Really lady?  What I learned is it isnt worth it to give these people power over me.  So I forgive them for being assholes and I forgive myself for thinking they are assholes.

Baking triumphs:  Gluten Free Cake Mix Cookies for my mom.
Feelings on Bacon:  Loving it!  Eating it everyday!  I missed you...
Word written this month:  4,700 of 17,543...  But I got this!
Game of choice:  It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.  You think you are winning and then your opponent gets the Invitation card and you get ROCKS!  I won 2 out of the 6 games...

What I Learned This Week: Butter in Coffee is OK

happy Friday pals!  I have been doing lots of reading on Bulletproof® Coffee this week.  It is a special blend of coffee that you add BUTTER and MCT oil to (which seems to be coconut oil on steroids...).  How gross does that sound?  Blah.  I first found out about this coffee concoction from Kristen's Raw.  She is one of my favorite food bloggers of all times!  I read her blog a TON when I first went vegan.  She was so happy and excited about the awesomeness of vegnism.  I agreed with all the awesomeness in the beginning but at some point it changes.  The honeymoon of being a vegan is short lived and you feel guilt and like a failure for not being able to make it work.  That was how I felt at least...  When I decided to start eating meat again I couldnt look at her blog for months.  I felt like I had failed, at life and to her.  About a month ago I went back to see what she was up to and to my surprise she had changed her ways also!  What?!?  She was now an omnivore too!  I fell even more in love with her blog!  Going into being a vegan isnt easy.  I had a harder time giving up cheese than I did giving up smoking.  You go in with high hopes and it is hard work.  When it doesnt work you think it is you but I dont think it is.  I am sure it works for some people, but my guess would be less people then you think...  Kristen even did a podcast with Dave of The Bulletproof Executive.  Dude is crazy!  He reminds me of Tim Ferriss.  The interview is great.  I agree with soooo much of it!  I figured I could at least try making coffee with butter in it.  The coffee beans Dave sells are not cheap.  I figured I should try it with regular coffee first.  I watched a lot of YouTube videos and lots of people use coconut oil instead of MCT oil.  I have some so lets give it a shot!

My breakfast this AM.  Broccoli with 2 eggs over medium, bacon and coffee with butter and coconut oil.  You HAVE to blend it!  I used an immersion blender.  It gets really frothy.  Totes weird.  It smells really nutty, like hazelnuts, kinda.  I took my first sip.  It was creamy and delicious!  Kinda bitter at the end because of the lack of sweetener, but I later added some.  Here is what I did.
  1. One cup of hot coffee, one tablespoon of UNSALTED grass fed butter (it HAS to be grass fed or you dont get the right good fats) and one tablespoon of coconut oil blended with immersion blender.
  2. I added ice and poured it into another glass and back again to cool it.
  3. I drank half of it and decided it need to be sweeter!  I added less than a teaspoon of Truvia and a squirt of chocolate syrup...
It was super tasty!  I feel like I have more energy...  But that could be the power of suggestion, either way I will take it!  I normally add unsweetened almond milk.  I might like this better.  Who would have thought!  Now Titanium is playing on my Pandora.  Its a sign!

I hope to be watching Lunar Orbiter’s Launch to the Moon on NASA TV.

Some times we need a little help making things better.  Here is a magic button!

Riddick comes out today!!!!!!!  O.O  <3  <3  <3
  • I have 5ish pairs of leggings and can only find one pair...  And they have holes in them!  I guess I am more religious than I thought...
  • I have been feeling like a chocolate monster lately.  Its weird I dont normally crave a lot of chocolate. But I will be making this Chocolate Pudding later today!
  • I over extend myself with goals.  I have really high hopes for myself, but rarely live up.  I need to learn that this is ok.  I need to make things more manageable.  Not expect less from life but be more realistic.

What I Learned: I Need a Place For Magnets

friday?  Really?  This week flew by!  I feel like I just did this post for last week!  I have been feeling very crafty lately.  Which is kinda surprising considering I have been helping Rosebud with her DIY wedding.  Next week will be lots of making!
I love my cassette case iPhone cover but this could be really fun too!  I also love these DIY videos.

I love love love succulents!  I think this could be fun with epiphytes too!

Wow.  I love the ocean.  This is a great visual of the depths of it.

So I am a total noob when it comes to Etsy...  I have had my shop for quite a few years, but was too much of a wuss to list.  Now that I have I still trying to figure it all out.  I went to a Etsy meetup with Melissa this week and learned that non Etsy employees can make a treasury.  Duh...  I guess I am super unaware...  So I made a treasury (and a second one when I should have been writing this blog...)!  It was so much fun to make!  I can see many more of these in my future!

FYI, if you have a Gel manicure and get your pinky finger crunch by a car door it will break the nail and pop off the polish and look like you have lost your whole nail.  This would be less concerning if you are not in the woods, in the dark and mildly intoxicated.  I couldnt even look at it!  It hurt so much!  I was very glad I have friends who are willing to help me rip the last bit off.  /shivers  (I also like that the color of the polish has changed and faded.  It looks like a creepy french tip and not just mint green.)

Ways to save monies:  Retail Me Not
Craving:  Antipasti Bites
Need:  To get my nails done before camping and shop and pack and flea treat the cat...
Discovery:  Coffee makes me need to tinkle.  A lot.
How was your week?

What I Learned This Week: I am Just Looking for a Brush

gone camping!  Woohooo!  I am in great need of some fresh air and some water to swim in!  Granted I will be bringing my computer and writing, excited to get the heck out of dodge!

17 Euphemisms for Sex From the 1800s  My faves are Brush, Blow the Grounsils, Green Gown and Face-Making.

I am in love with this Youtube cooking channel.  I like Raw. Vegan. Not Gross the best!  Laura Miller is adorable!  I like her dry sense of humor and that she refuses to eat on camera!  Cute!

I also found a great blog about how people blog...  Awesome huh?  How They Blog is lots of interviews from bloggers on what they do.  This is why I love blogs!  I want to know what makes people tick.  I was also reading sillygrrl about how to start a blog.  I totally agree with No auto-play music!!!  Hate that...

I know Shark Week is over but I have been savoring all the shows.  Watching them slowly.  This week I watched Alien Sharks Megamouth.  So much better than Megaladon...  It was amazing to see these deep water giants make it to the surface.  Look out shrimp!  They are hungry...

I made friends with this little cricket at the wedding.  He trapped me in my tent...  Not cool!  I was able to escape on my own but it took 4 people to shake my little tent enough to get him out!  Well three people shaking and me doing a creeped out dance.  We also found 3 earwigs!  GROSS!!!!  Thanks Sheila, Shelly and Mike for saving me!  I have great friends!

I have watched the video a few times.  Not sure I could eat it, but you got to do what you got to do!

What I Learned This Week: Megalodon was a hoax...

this weeks episode of What I Learned This Week is going to be pretty shark heavy, cause duh it was shark week!  I apologize in advance and will try to keep it to a minimum.

I was pretty excited for Discovery Channels Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives (ps I think it is super funny that Discovery Channel changed the name of the show on their site to Megalodon: The Monster Shark and got rid of the Lives...  Shady.)  I didnt think for a moment that these monsters were really still around.  I mean they could be but I didnt believe boats could have recently be sunk by them and we not hear about it... Wil Wheaton had some great things to say about the mockumentary.  I agree with lots of it.  If you cant tell that the footage on the boat is professionally done and not with a crappy camera you are silly!  Plus how could that camera survive in the salt water to be viewed later?  The large amount of photo-shopping was also humorous.  I am not sure if I would go so far to say the public needs an apology but it should have been made very clear that it was fiction.  There was a very fast and short disclaimer at the end but it didnt say it was fake.  I enjoyed the show.  It was a fun idea, but I know there are people out there that would believe it.  Are we now going to hear Voodoo Sharks is fake too?

Another article on the hoax and some real fact on the AWESOME Megalodon.

I really hope scientific mockumentaries are going to become a trend like the mermaids.  That would really bum me out.  There are so many ahMazing and true stories to be told...

Look at all the free press Shark Week is now getting!  There is no such thing as bad publicity...

Cooking up the world's first in-vitro beef burger!  The ex-vegan in me finds this fascinating!  I feel vegans could eat this meat since you animal was harmed, but I feel like the excuse would be that to get the cells for growing the meat a cow was harmed.  But one cow vs millions would be amazing!  I totally want to try it!  It does seem like it would be squishy but the tasters liked it.  Crazytown!

I also learned why I am still single.  7 Tips for Keeping Your Man (from the 1950s) and I only was good at one of them...  Can you guess which one?

source
I love this Spock eared iPhone case!  I would totally hit on a guy if he had one.  Talk nerdy to me...

I discovered StarTalk Radio Show with Neil deGrasses Tyson.  I may be super behind here but the only interweb type radio I listen to is Pandora...  I learned that the universe is made up of 80% dark energy 16% dark matter 4% everything else.  Most of the gravity in the universe has no known origin which makes it dark matter and it used to be called "missing matter" but we should really call it "too much gravity".  I didnt know that...  I might become a bigger space nerd now!

Animals such as sharks, alligators and turtles can potentially live forever!  I have heard such things about lobsters but how cool would it be to meet a 1,000 year old shark!  I heard this on a Sharks After dark episode (before I got annoyed by the host and quit watching.  Kinda sad I miss Tara Reid make an ass of herself...  "Whales are mammals and sharks are just animals."  Or maybe they are fish?!?).  Sharks dont die of old age!  Sharks will keep growing as long as they can find food to eat and have the energy to hunt, but once they get really big they end up starving because they cant hunt enough to have enough energy to keep hunting...  Vicious cycle.

This is what I learned this week!  What did you learn?

Loads of laundry done: one started...
Time wasted on podcasts:  only 40 mins...
Emotions on missing a camping trip this weekend:  Lots of sadness!  I had been looking forward to it all year...
Emotions on what I will really be doing this weekend:  Excited!  Bridal showers are fun!
